God’s Number One Job

SOUL WINNING: THE CHRISTIAN’S PRIORITY

Soul winning involves people being birthed into the kingdom of God. This birthing involves people being delivered from the dominion of darkness and being transferred into the kingdom of God’s dear son. This is getting people to know about the love of Christ and the salvation therein, getting them to confess the Lordship of Christ and making disciples of them. When Christ died, he died for all, but not everyone knows this, that is why as Christians, we should be in the business of spreading the gospel, reaching the unreached and telling the untold.

A lot of Christians today do not know the relevance and importance of soul winning, they think it is not for everybody. Soul winning is God’s number one job and there is nothing as vital in the kingdom of God as the winning of souls. Every Christian should be actively and passionately involved in soul winning, the Bible tells us in the book of Luke 15:7“there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away”, and Proverbs 11:30 tells us also that he that wins souls is wise”.

You don’t necessarily have to be a pastor to win souls, you just have to be a Christian that loves Jesus to do so. Soul winning is more than preaching, it is a labor of love, it demands attention, study, prayer, planning and devising of strategies. It means that we should go out of our comfort to reach someone who needs Christ. It is our divine responsibility because we Christians are needed in God’s plan for the world, we are His outstretched arm to the world.

To be an effective soul winner, one has to recognize the precarious state of the unsaved in the world, they are similar to people in a burning house and are unaware of it. Revelation 20:15 shows us that the unsaved are headed for the lake of fire. Jesus also teaches in the book of John 3:3 that no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. To win souls, you have to go out of your comfort zone and preach the gospel in whatever way you can, let people see you and want to come to Jesus (2Timothy 4:2), because salvation is found in no other name than Jesus (Acts4:12). As a Christians also, you have to understand that the cost of every soul on earth is The Blood of Jesus. This is why you did not ascend into heaven immediately you got born again, you are here because there is work to do, people to get saved, and God loves everyone of them.

Another knowledge that helps in soul winning is the consciousness of the importance of Christ’s message and who has sent you. When you go to tell someone about Jesus, you should never go in timidity, fear or intimidation, rather you approach them with boldness because we have the Holy Spirit in us and the message we bring is life. When you have this consciousness of the Greater one residing inside of you, you would come to enjoy soul winning.

One important factor here is the realization of the fact that to be pure from the blood of those around you, you must preach the gospel. You are responsible for those around us, the book of Ezekiel 33:!-9 shows that you are the watchman in your sphere of contact, and if you do not make the gospel known to them, you would be held responsible. You are the watchman in your family, your workplace, your school, etc. Let your love for Jesus excite you, let it be contagious and inspire people to come to him.

If you truly love someone, you would want the best for them, you would want to know that they know and believe in Jesus, you wouldn’t want them to miss out on the beautiful life and assurance we have in Christ Jesus, you would do whatever it takes to get them saved, you would prevail in prayer, you would even fast… That’s what love does.

As you show people love by giving them gifts, also see that they have this precious gift that God almighty has freely given to us, a beautiful life in Christ ♥.

To be continued next week… Have a great week.
