Good day to you and Happy Sunday once again. Today’s nugget is on memorizing scriptures.Colossians 3:16 NIV“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”Learning to memorize scriptures is a fundamental part of good Christian growth and development. Despite the easy access to e-bibles, our minds should be exercised to retain God’s word. The mind is very important to our spiritual growth; it’s the doorway to our spirit.I remember when I was a child in the children’s church, the teacher always made us cram (memorize) and recite Bible passages (Memory verses), it continued when I got to the teens church and even now in the adult church, my pastor would often make us recite verses. The mind is trained through habitual practice, man is a creature of habits. Habits developed over time mould character. It is risky to have limited amount of God’s word in memory, remember it is the sword in The Armor of God. The word has to be in our consciousness to even work for us. Jesus defeated in the devil in the wilderness with scriptures (Matthew 4: 1-10), even the devil knew and quoted scriptures. When reading the Bible, memorize, that’s the beginning of meditation. (Joshua 1:8)May we be mightily helped of God to memorize and retain scriptures as we study and fellowship with His word. Amen.See you soon beloved, may your week be filled with laughter and joy.
