The Armor of God

Good day my beloved reader, hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday. Today’s nugget is on the Armor of God. If we did not need this armor, then Apostle Paul probably wouldn’t have been inspired to exhort the church about it. (We are in the Lord’s army💪😉).

Armor is a defensive covering or clothing that people wear to protect their bodies from weapons. It’s a good thing that the armor of God is not to be worn physically, imagine putting on those heavy metals, even David couldn’t deal with it😅.

The Armor of God is found in the Bible in Ephesians chapter 6; verses 11-18. You can read up the whole chapter, the book really teaches and addresses a lot on Christian living.

Ephesians 6; 10-18 (NIV)

10. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

  1. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

  2. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

  3. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

  4. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled, round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

  5. And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

  6. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one,

  7. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  8. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for the saints.

We already know that life is spiritual, whether we choose to believe it or not, and the physical is controlled by the spiritual. God being an ever loving father did not leave us unequipped for the the battles of life. He gave us the very best and complete armor, top-notch!, this armor gives real assurance. It’s now left to us to put this armor to use because He isn’t coming to do it for us, we have to be conscious of this armor and intentionally put it to work. For example when doubts and tough challenges are thrown at us, our faith is our shield, we pierce through situations with the sword of the spirit which is God’s word “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any ddouble-edgd sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges thoughts and attitudes of the heart”(Hebrews 4:12), no matter what comes our way we hold on to what God’s word says and we keep affirming it.

I’m putting the message translation just because I love it and can’t keep it to myself, you’d love it too.

Ephesians 6: 10-18 (MSG)

“And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life or death fight to the finish against devil and all his angels.

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting, you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”

So my dear, let’s be conscious of this armor, we have a very powerful and efficient armor that transcends the physical, we stand strong no matter what comes our way, we are more than we are. I pray that we be helped mightily by the Holy Spirit to always remember that we have a fantabulous armor and put it to good use. Do have a lovely Sunday and a great week.
